Paint correction is the only way to permanently remove swirl marks, scratches, water spots, and oxidation from your vehicle's clear coat. Unlike wax or glaze (which temporarily fill imperfections), paint correction physically removes them through machine polishing.

What Causes Paint Imperfections?

Most paint damage comes from everyday activities:

• Automatic car washes — The spinning brushes create thousands of micro-scratches (swirl marks)
• Improper washing — Using a dirty sponge, dish soap, or drying with a rough towel
• Environmental damage — Bird droppings, tree sap, hard water spots, and UV exposure
• Road debris — Rock chips, sand, and dirt kicked up on the highway
• Touch — Leaning on the car, running fingers across dusty paint

The Paint Correction Process

Step 1: Inspection. We examine your paint under specialized lighting to identify all defects — swirl marks, scratches, water spots, orange peel, and oxidation. We also measure paint thickness with a gauge to ensure safe polishing depth.

Step 2: Decontamination. Before any polishing, we thoroughly wash, clay bar, and chemically decontaminate the surface. This removes embedded contaminants that would interfere with polishing.

Step 3: Machine polishing. Using dual-action and rotary polishers with precisely selected pads and compounds, we systematically remove defects from each panel. This is where the transformation happens.

Single-stage correction addresses light swirl marks and minor imperfections. One pass with a medium-cut compound and finishing polish. Removes approximately 60–70% of defects.

Two-stage correction tackles moderate defects. First pass with an aggressive compound to remove deeper scratches, followed by a finishing polish to refine the surface. Removes approximately 85–95% of defects.

Multi-stage correction is for severely damaged or neglected paint. Multiple rounds of compounding and polishing with progressively finer products. Removes 95%+ of correctable defects.

Step 4: Protection. Once correction is complete, we apply a protective layer — either a paint sealant or ceramic coating — to lock in the results and prevent new damage.

What Results to Expect

Paint correction produces dramatic results, but it's important to have realistic expectations:

• Swirl marks — Completely removed in most cases
• Light scratches — Removed or significantly reduced
• Water spots — Removed if they haven't etched into the clear coat
• Deep scratches (through the clear coat) — Cannot be removed by polishing; may need touch-up paint
• Rock chips — Cannot be fixed by polishing

How Long Do Results Last?

The correction itself is permanent — the defects are physically removed. How long your paint stays pristine depends on how you maintain it afterward:

• With ceramic coating: 2–5+ years of protection
• With paint sealant: 3–6 months of protection
• With wax: 1–3 months of protection
• With nothing: New swirls can appear within weeks
